Used to be a good company to work for up until around september 2023 when there was a change of management. Old manager was spot on, firm but fair, earnt the respect of his staff and everybody happily worked for each other. New transport 'manager' is your standard big ego, wanna be tyrant kind of guy, unable to gain the respect of staff through merit so uses bullyboy tactics to try and make staff fall in line. Very untrustworthy and two faced. Will pretend he has drivers backs but in reality is busy with a spoon eating out upper 'management', who are all busy plotting for ways to take each others jobs and YOURS! On the subject of upper management, they are your ususal 'bureaucratic' type, and what you would imagine a 2 year old child playing dress up pretending to do a job would be with more or less the same amount of dribble. Every single one of the minions in the transport office are weak and spineless, scared to death of 'managers' and have very little job knowledge, just keyboard warriors....they will also stab you in the back the first opportunity they get! Trucks and trailers are just about roadworthy (most of the time) not well maintained. 'Planners' not worth a toss, using google maps to 'plan' a decent sized fleet of 44t artics, very little understanding of rules regarding wtd or driving hours, will happily send deliveries unfit for large vans yet expect artics to get to them, company has had the pleasure of police having to close off roads on far too many occasions for different vehicles getting stuck. This company absolutely fill their nappies at the thought of upsetting customers so will try and force drivers into situations that are unsafe/unlawful prioritising profit over safety. All in all Yusen Derby has sadly been turned into just another cowboy outfit for the area (like we needed any more) under this new management. Each to their own, if you fancy being treated like a bad case of herpes, lied to each day and generally just violated then this could be the place for you. To allow for 'balance'....1 'pro' of the job is the work can be dirty but generally easy enough (if your left to it without busy bodies sticking their noses in) and there are a handful of decent lads in the yard and other drivers if you know who to trust, 90% are brown nosing snakes waiting to catch you doing something that will get you in trouble so they can receive a pat on the head from their masters.

Very strange place to work at,I was envied by co workers/management team for been able to perform heavy lifting easily because I frequently work out. Was envied to the point where they made up a goodreason not to allow me back in,because I was making others look bad

Easy access in and out off the A38, other than that, just another souless transport yard.

Early delivery here, staff are friendly, driver facilities are basic and vending machines available in canteen

Worst place to unload your truck, no flexibility, no communication, rude personnel. Won't take a load to their site again.

Park on the left as you get in. Forget folkowing the ridiculous collection / delivery signs, Sloooow to offload.. Maxi haulage boys/ subbys seem to get tipped first regardless of who was here first / longer. Forklift drivers supposed to come and get you, No chance.. So then maxi boys think they can just drive in If its raining you'll find the fork lift guys in the smoke shelter. Shocking place.

Yusen logistic is just at the side of the A38 heading Towards Derby. Signed for Yusen look for fuel bunker on the left. It's covid secure and they make every effort to enforce these regulations. People are very friendly and helpful. It's a backdoor tip normally. The yard is concreted and very large with numerous bays. On arrival you book in at reception and they give you a bay. Mask are worn at all times. Overall an enjoyable experience ps. They let you use their toilets and not a portaloo. Ha ha makes a change. Have been back since they have more work but still same procedures. Maintaining high standards despite covid

Good place to work for, decent management, staff is bit strange but who cares ? End of the day, I try to be professional at work. Also, but old way of working... Can definitely recommend a friend to work, also forgot to add ... Very well paid too... Good luck
